Making small talk is a skill required by most of us. In fact we become so good at it, we can build friendships and relationships on being an accomplished small talker.
Most of us could and do befriend many of the people that cross our paths – colleagues, school parents, gym partners. And then, every now and again, we inexplicably meet someone with something a little extra where everything just comes that much easier.
I’ve made a few such connections over the years, and again a few weeks ago – I was so drawn to her easy going and beautiful way. We met for breakfast this morning, and ended up leaving at lunch time – three hours felt like ten minutes. It’s funny how that works.
The only thing that makes sense to me is that we do have soul connections with some people, and that we enter each others lives at exactly the right time. It’s like a homecoming. Welcoming, comfortable and just right.
I don’t want to take away from everyone adding to my life in a beautiful way everyday, but I am particularly grateful for the soul connections I’ve made in this lifetime. Many of them I haven’t spoken to for some time, but I know that we’re connected in a deep way.
It’s lovely knowing that we’re not alone…
