This evening I stood in at the restaurant to allow my husband a 4am rise for a cycling race. It was a great evening, with all the tables booked and a fabulous vibe on a beautiful summer’s eve.
One of the bookings was for quite a big number of people and got very festive, so the staff and I braced ourselves for a rather late night – especially after the tequila’s started rolling.
Much to our surprise, they called for the bill and were on their way due to early morning commitments at a very reasonable hour. Staying late is no problem, but doing the cash up and cleaning the shop up in the early hours of the morning is really not that much fun – no matter how grateful you are for the business.
So after a really good day at the restaurant, getting home at a decent hour, having time for a cup of tea before jumping into bed is much appreciated.
