BACK TO BASICS

When I lived in London, I worked with, stayed with and became good friends with a number of Frenchies. I enjoyed the cuisine, drank lots of Champagne and learnt the very basics of this beautiful language. But unfortunately, as per most things, if not practiced it is lost very quickly.

So for some time I thought I’d like to brush up on my skills and actually learn to speak French properly. Hence the Duolingo app on my phone – a very cool app, taking 10 minutes of your time everyday, teaching you a new language.

I’ve managed to get past basic level 1 and am halfway through basic level 2, but actually just realised how bad I really am. I suppose it doesn’t matter though – something’s better than nothing.

Whether or not I will ever master this language remains to be seen, but in the meantime I will continue doing a little bit every day – as they say, many a little makes a mickle.
