After four consecutive weeks of disruptions with public holidays in the middle of the week, my son being at home when he’s normally at boarding school and my daughter being away when she’s normally home, I’m ready to settle back into routine.

It’s lovely having a break from the norm, but there comes a point when you look forward to getting up, doing the school run and start the day at a particular time.

Yesterday my son went back to hostel and today my daughter arrived back home after some time away with friends. Tomorrow morning we’re up at the normal time, with things pretty much falling back into place.

Routine is a funny thing – we’re quite happy to escape it for a while for sunsets and beautiful views, but after a while, it’s welcomed back with open arms.
